-
Where there is a will - there is a way!
INTRODUCTION – Geoff Barnard Greening Steyning and South East Climate Alliance (SECA) Steering Committee member
- Count your carbon footprint - "until you measure it you can't manage it" see eg http://www.carbonindependent.org/index.html
- Make your money count – cut consumer spending, divestment from fossil fuel companies for investments, pension funds, etc.
- Make your vote count – exert political pressure
COUNTRYSIDE – Kia Trainor Director Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), Sussex
- Flying – fly less
- Food – eat local food and produce and eat less meat
- Feet – walk more, use your car less, invest in electric cars
FARMING – Peter Knight Arun to Adur Cluster Farmers Group, Estate Manager of the Norfolk Estate
- Support better land management – it is the only sector that can deliver positive environmental gain for society
- Support farmer led groups (eg the Arun-Adur Group) - these have huge potential to deliver support services that are needed
ENVIRONMENT – Tony Whitbread President of the Sussex Wildlife Trust
- Rebuild nature networks – it works at every scale, make space and time for nature
- Support local products – use local fuel, food, furniture, etc.
- Political influence – lobby governments and authorities
COMMUNITIES – Carrie Cort Al Gore Climate Reality Leader and Founder Sussex Green Living & Horsham Repair Café.
- Refuse – say NO to things you don't need, no to plastics, straws etc.
- Repair/remake/reuse – get creative with ‘stuff’ we already have around us. Say NO to new!
- Renewables – change our houses, businesses, cars (to EV), switch to clean renewable energy
